Here are the lyrics:

You’re Enough

If I could find my younger self and sit with her a while
If I could find the words I’d want to state
If I could hold her precious face, in these aging hands today
I’d look her in the eyes and I would say

There ain’t nothing wrong with you are
Even the biggest hearts will carry scars
You’re deserving of the greatest love
And even if no one else is showing up
You’re still enough.
Oh, You’re enough.

I’d tell of the things she’ll do, and the person she’ll become
That she’s as kind and lovin’ as she’s brave
I’d tell her that her precious heart, is the greatest gift of all
Even though it’s what makes her so afraid (and then I’d say)…

There ain’t nothing wrong with you are
Even the biggest hearts will carry scars
You’re deserving of the greatest love
And even if no one else is showing up
You’re still enough.
You’re enough.

I’d tell her there’ll be days when you can’t see it
That doesn’t mean it isn’t true
There’ll be days when you just don’t believe it
But someone’s watchin’ over you.
I’d tell her truth…

There ain’t nothing wrong with you are
Even the biggest hearts will carry scars
You’re deserving of the greatest love
And even if no one else is showing up
You’re still enough.
You’re enough.

The Story

This song is close to my heart. It’s taken me a long time to get to appreciate myself for the person that I am and understand that the things that have happened in my life that I thought were sent to break me were actually sent to make me. Things I experienced growing up, things I missed out on, things that happened, people, places… have all influenced the person I am today and the skills I possess. Even the things that hurt have helped me to become a person with great compassion and understanding for others, and at the very least even the worst experiences have helped me to have songs to write about. I am always turning lemons into lemonade and that in and of itself is a skill.

I figured out one day, that the only person who has ever been there for me right from the beginning, through every stumble and fall, every scratch and claw back out of each hole, every mistake, trial, triumph and success has been me. I may as well learn to be on my side. We all have a version of ourselves that we carry with us that can be our greatest cheerleader or our worst enemy. I decided that I’d make the commitment to be on my side and learn how to love and nurture myself because if I had made it so far without the love and nurture that I should have had, imagine how far I could go if I actually had that kind of support. So these days I’ve made friends with the girl in the glass and I have a firm belief that just that decision has made an incredible difference.
